One of the many regents of Lord Archimonde who became stranded on the physical plane after the Legion fell in Kalimdor, the devil Azgalor's love of destruction allowed him to accept the Lich King's invitation to help lead the Scourge in conquest with few regrets. After all, this Pit Lord is happiest when he conjures fire to scorch his opponents from above, roasting them slowly as the dead literally explode from beneath their feet. With such hateful power in the hands of a monster such as this, it's no wonder he inspires so much terror as he roams across the battlefield.

Pit of Malice always taken first for disabling enemies (early gank) and corpse producer. The corpses are used later by Expulsion which is taken after the Pit of Malice or Firestorm. Using the Expulsion you can be a great laner and pusher, so you can dominate the lane easily. The healing also allows you to babysit your allies in laning phase. Maximize Pit of Malice after you finish maximizing the Expulsion. One level of Firestorm is taken at level 2 or 4 because it's 1 skill point wonder.
You can try to maximize the Firestrom instead of Pit of Malice for better lane push. Or you can have another build by maximizing Firestorm and Pit of Malice, save the Expulsion last, for being a good ganker. You will do max damage using Firestorm-Pit of Malice combo. It's all up to you to build this Hero.
If you want to spam your skills, you'll need a mana regenerator like Ezalor or Rylai due to Azgalor's draining-mana skills (Soul ring also a good item for helping you spam).
Dark Rift taken whenever possible. Stats come last.
Azgalor the Pit Lord Item Build
or just
1. Animal Courier, Sobi Mask, Healing Salve, or just Flying Courier
2. Boots of Speed
3. You can either finish Soul Ring or get Empty Bottle
Azgalor's early core items should be like this:
or
Boots of Speed - Movement speed and upgradeable to Boots of Travel
Soul Ring - Replenishes mana but drain your HP. Good item when you maximizing Expulsion
Empty Bottle - Used nicely when you're not leveling Expulsion. It can provides more HP regen than Soul Ring. You can send your Flying Courier to get it filled again.
Main core items
Boots of Travel - To be a good pusher, BoT is a must. With Dark Rift, they should become a great synergy, since you can bring your teammate anywhere needed.
Core items
Note that you shouldn't get all of these items, choose only one or two then aim for luxuries.
Vitality Booster - Good additional HP, but it's not the priority to upgrade it in early game. On some situational condition (e.g. lack of gold) you can get Vanguard to improve your survivability.
Hood of Deviance - A survivability item against nuker and spammer.
Necronomicon - For better pushing or defending, also has a true sight.
Force Staff - To trap enemy into your Pit and also can be your escape mechan.
Late Game Items
Here are Luxury late game items for him:
Heart of Tarrasque - Provides massive survivability. Useful when Expulsion is not as effective as before. If you want to be a tanker go with this item.
Shiva's Guard - Infinite manapool, slow aura, armor, and AOE nuke. Perfect item for late game. Increases your effectiveness in team clashes. Also a tank build.
Assault Cuirass - Good aura for your team and bad aura for other team. Note that this item is an alternative to shiva's. Get this item if one of your friend already has shiva's and you want to be a great pusher.
Guinsoo - Nice stats, infinite manapool, and Hex, the most effective disabler on item skill. Use this to disable enemy's main hero.
Veil of Discord - Comes after you get one of the defense item. Amplifies team's spell damage.
Pipe of Insight - Get this item if you and your team have a hard time against AOE nukers.
Bloodstone - HP, mana, and regen. Plus easy-to-buy parts. With enough charges it can help you spam a lot. Great item against manaburners.
Situational items:
Black King Bar - Tired of getting disabled or nuked? Aim for this item
Linken Sphere - Single nuke or doom will not be considered as treat anymore
Mekansm - Help your critical teammate and good additional armor for team battle. Buy this item when Hood of Deviance is not enough to get you survived.
Ghost Septer - Help you survive against heroes which can lock you down.
Not Recomended Items:
Arcane Boots - not recommended because of Soul Ring. But viable if you want convert it later to bloodstone.
Radiance - Expensive and not as effective as Veil of Discord.
Battlefury - Not recommended since you're not a carry hero.
Azgalor the Pit Lord Strategy
You can pick this hero if your team need Pusher/ Defender, Tank, Semi carry, or Ganker
You can be supported by:
and carrier
Mana regenerator
- They'll help you spam your skills. With them you can be a hard pusher.
AOE disabler
- You'll need to stick to them to get your skill landed perfectly while they're doing their job
AOE damage dealer and disabler
- Combined with Veil of Discord the enemies will get serious damage
Special mention to
- Using Expulsion, Dirge will provide you with a lot of damage and heal with his zombie's corpses
Beware of his counter:
High damage nuker
- Give you a lot of damage. Very troublesome enemies. Get HoD as fast as you can.
Mana burner
- They will ruin your manapool. Counter using Soul Ring to recover your mana. The 150 mana is enough to do at least 1 skill for defending.
Lock-you-down heroes
- They'll try to pursue you until you die. Such a pain the ass. Ghost Scepter and Force staff is good item to escape from them, at least until your friends coming.
Silencer
- Any kind of silence will give you a hard time. You can use BKB or Linken (for Doom)
/ carrier
Hood of Deviance/ Khadgar's pipe of Insight
- You can't do maximum damage. Veil of Discord will solve it for you.
Playstyle
Early Game.
You can go wherever you like. But gives priority for others who want to choose their best lane. If no one go solo mid, you can go there too. Probably, you have to meet a strong hero there. If so, you must leveling Expulsion until it reaches max. Use Soul Ring to preserve your mana and be aggressive as hard as you can. If you can take the tower down, change lane immediately to help your teammate there. If your enemy lane also a pusher or maybe a harasser, you can pull back and farm as many as you can. In this case, pick combination of Firestorm and Pit instead of Expulsion. And also Bottle instead of Soul Ring. In the middle lane, you just simply farm and push.

Dual laning also a possibility. Go with your teammate (disabler preferred) and try to dominate the lane. You can babysit him/her if you want. Use Pit of Malice to damage the creeps, so your friend can last hit every single one of them. And if your teammate damaged, you can heal him/her using Expulsion. Remember not too carried away because it increases your probability of being ganked.
Tri lane is a bit complicated. Choose your build based on your opponent. Every skill you have deals AOE damage. So be aggressive and take tower as fast as possible.
Your early game's role is push and farm a lot, if possible try to dominate your lane.
Mid Game.
This fase of the game is where team gank always happen. While pushing the lane, don't forget to check the mini map for enemies position. And use your Dark Rift wisely either to escape or gank. Dark Rift effectiveness will increase when you finish the BoT.

When team clash occurs, use and grab enemy heroes as many as you can using Pit of Malice, then cast Firestorm. You're not supposed to be the initiator, so keep your distance away when casting your spells, except that you take the tanker role (using the right item build). Also spam Expulsion if there are a lot of corpse and cast around the creeps to keep it burns. Your team will also get the benefit from +4o HP regen (lvl 4).
Your mid game's role is push, gank, and help your friends to escape.
Late Game.
You'll grow weaker and mostly you'll take the supporter role. Your skill now give only minor damage to enemies. But as a supporter, you still can be useful for team. At this point, you should already get your luxury, at least one of them. Always push between team clash. At the end of the game you can be a winner, perhaps :)
